                                            The Declaration of Independence: A Transcription



          "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness." "Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed."

                My understanding of this passage is that although all men are created equal, governments are institute among men. We are the ones who decides who we should place in the position of power. If there is ever a time where there's destruction, we have the right to replace the ones we place in power. I chose this passage because it was interesting to me to know that we the people have a lot of rights. Although we have a lot of  rights, these rights are often taken away from us. We live in a country that is suppose to make us feel safe and free, but that isn't always the case. They try to make us believe that we are indeed safe and free, showing us only part of the news on television. I believe that things would be a bit different if we were being told the full truth instead of part of the truth.
